New Events

The inaugural meeting of the International Association for Multi-Disciplinary Resilience (IAMDR) was held on July 2nd in Milan, Italy. Over 40 participants from nine different countries joined the event both in-person and online. The meeting was jointly chaired by the association’s President, Prof. John van de Lindt from Colorado State University; Vice President, Prof. Changhai Zhai from Harbin Institute of Technology; and Secretary General, Prof. You Dong from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

The meeting began with an address from Prof. John van de Lindt, who introduced the association’s mission and organizational structure, while also sharing his vision for its future development. Following this, Prof. Changhai Zhai highlighted the importance of establishing the IAMDR and provided an overview of a series of events planned for the near future. Lastly, Prof. You Dong, the Secretary General, spoke about the motivations behind founding the association and elaborated on the preparatory work leading up to its establishment.

The meeting concluded with an active discussion among the participants, who provided valuable input on various matters including the design of the association’s logo, the election of regional representatives, and potential collaborations with related organizations. These discussions were both productive and insightful, setting a strong foundation for the association’s future endeavors. The next IAMDR workshop is scheduled to be held at Waseda University in September 2025.
